This shift in nomenclature reflects a broader focus on vocational guidance and career counseling, expanding beyond mere registration, submission, and placement services. Employers, both in the public and private sectors, can collaborate with employment exchanges to post job vacancies and select suitable candidates from the pool of registered individuals based on their specific requirements.

Notably, the Employment Exchanges (Compulsory Notification of Vacancies) Act, 1959 now extends its coverage to private sector establishments employing between 10 and 24 persons. This mandate ensures the submission of returns, providing a more accurate depiction of employment in the organized sector. Employers are obligated to furnish selection outcomes within thirty days, enhancing the rationality of registration data. Furthermore, the updated definitions of employee and employer encompass contract labor with more than 240 days of annual work, promoting inclusivity and transparency in employment data.

Streamlined Online Registration Steps

  • Visit the official website of the State for online registration.
  • If you’re not already a registered member, initiate the registration process to create your account.
  • Log in to the State website using your credentials.
  • Choose your district, and, in certain states, provide additional details about your native state and district as per the portal’s instructions.

Complete the profile form with the required information. Upon submission, you’ll receive an acknowledgment containing crucial details such as the Registration Number, Registration Date, and the name of the Employment Exchange.

Print and retain this acknowledgment for future reference.

Within 15 days from the registration date, submit all pertinent certificates supporting your education, experience, caste, sports achievements, handicap status (certified by Medical Board/CMO), ex-serviceman status, widowhood, freedom fighter status, and proof of residence to the designated . Note that the time limit may vary depending on your state.

In addition to the aforementioned documents, a valid residence proof must be submitted. You can choose one of the following options:

  • Ration Card.
  • Voter ID Card.
  • Certificate from Municipal Councilor/Sarpanch.
  • Proof of job in the State of either of the parents.
  • Certificate of Education in the State.
  • Letter from a gazetted officer or school head.
  • Certificate issued by an MLA/MP.

Traditional Offline Registration Procedure

Note: To register offline, individuals must personally visit the nearest Employment Exchange with their latest qualification documents and experience certificates.

  • Head to the nearest employment exchange office in your residential area and complete the necessary application form.
  • Provide attested photocopies of all current education and experience-related certificates, accompanied by your resume.
  • Optionally, include a Caste Certificate if applicable, and submit the required photographs.
  • If you possess an Experience Certificate, remember to include it in your submission.
  • This hands-on process ensures that all relevant documentation is meticulously reviewed for a comprehensive offline registration experience.

  • Voter’s Identity Card

  • Passport
  • Birth Certificate

Upon completion of registration, you will receive a unique registration number.
